Four Mile Run Park is located at 3700 Commonwealth Avenue, Alexandria. The alternate address is 4131 Mount Vernon Avenue. Four Mile Run Park is a large park that includes athletic fields, basketball, a biking/jogging/walking trail, bird and river watching, fishing, a playground, picnic benches, and sitting areas, as well as a Conservatory Center.
Four Mile Run Park is spread upon an area of 46.75 acres. An additional 1.47 acres has recently been acquired and a planning process is currently underway for the additional land. In recognition of its innovative and effective approach to community engagement and volunteer coordination, Four Mile Run Park has been named a “Frontline Park,” a nationwide competition sponsored each year by City Parks Alliance.
The fields of the Four Mile Run Park are used by T. C. Williams High School, Bishop Ireton, Youth and Adult Sports, and other men's and women's leagues. A bike trail connects to the Arlington path from the west and the Washington, D.C. path from the north. The Four Mile Run Playground and Betty King Entrance have been adopted by the Hume Spring Citizens' Association.
